Fluke 62 MAX Infrared Thermometer
Model: 62 MAX
The Fluke 62 MAX is a non-contact infrared thermometer measuring -20 to +650°C with 10:1 D:S ratio and ±1.5°C or ±1.5% accuracy (whichever is greater). Ideal for fast spot-checks on hot surfaces, moving parts, or inaccessible areas where contact measurement is impractical. IP54 rated and drop-tested to 3 metres for rugged field use in factories and maintenance environments. Not a substitute for calibration-grade contact thermometers where measurement uncertainty must be documented.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can the Fluke 62 MAX replace a contact thermometer for calibration?+
No — varying surface emissivity significantly affects accuracy, and ±1.5°C uncertainty is insufficient for calibration work requiring ≤ ±1°C. Use it for preliminary checks or predictive maintenance only.
What does 10:1 D:S ratio mean?+
At 10 cm distance, the meter averages temperature across a 1 cm diameter circle. At 1 m it measures a 10 cm diameter area. Always ensure the target is larger than the measurement spot.
What materials suit the fixed 0.95 emissivity setting?+
Most plastics, rubber, paint, and oxidised metal surfaces. Not suitable for polished metals (emissivity 0.05–0.3), which will read significantly lower than actual temperature.
